We invited DoMyHair to join us to showcase how they use VEON@Hair Experience in their salon, and also provided free styling to the visitors who came to our booth. Minister Heng Swee Keat and Minister Vivian Balakrishan also dropped by out booth to take photo with the students camping at our booth area!

Under the India-Singapore G2G bilateral arrangement, North East Skill Centre@Assam& ITE College Education Service had a MOU collaboration to train the India trainers. VEON@Hair Experience was invited to do a workshop sharing about our the digital skills and technology needed in the Hair and Beauty Industry. Woo Sze Ming, founder of Gamurai Pte Ltd, the maker of AI chat bots for hair salons noted that his sceptical clients are more willing to give them their services after getting the IMDA stamp of approval.

His clients just need to know the functionalities of his product without having to understand the complexity of his artificial intelligence system that chats and books appointments automatically with salon users.

One such ICM vendor is Gamurai, which enhances the productivity of the hair and beauty salon value chain. “The first thing we need to do is to change the mindset of small salon owners,” said Mr Woo Sze Ming, Gamurai’s founder. “It is a compelling story when small salon owners can see that the technologies offered in the programme are more sophisticated than most of the technologies used by bigger salons.”

“When the mindset changes, a salon owner then decides to bring the business into the digital age and connect with an increasingly tech-savvy younger clientele,” said Mr Woo. “I feel a lot of personal satisfaction when that happens.”

With 90% of salons in Singapore still being managed with pen and paper, the digitalisation potential is tremendous.

“Our partnership with IMDA gives the hair salons on the ground the assurance and credibility that [our] solution is tested and validated,” said Sze Ming, Founder of hair services SaaS platform provider Gamurai.

He emphasised that many hair salons do not understand technology, so the validation from the government helps to give them a peace of mind.

Gamurai, a Singapore-based technology startup, develops and markets 3D visualization tools and customer relationship management platforms for the fashion and retail industry. Its first product, VEON@HAIRExperience, enables hair salons to provide real-time hairstyle modeling for their customers. In partnership with Microsoft through the BizSpark program, Gamurai is able to improve its marketing capability, gain technical expertise, and provide partner businesses with the hardware necessary to run its solutions.

There is also a web application that enables customers to try on different hairstyles at hair salons. This was developed by local start-up Gamurai, based on 3D-modelling technology licensed from A*Star.

This BUILD Conference is an annual developers event showcasing some of the latest Microsoft Technologies and the Partners Technolgies build on its platform.

Very honoured to get to meet with world class individuals from Microsoft from Redmond- Dave Crawford, Giorgio Sardo, Nikola Metulev, and be on the same stage with them.

And we have showcased our VEON@Hair Experience in front of the technical Audience. Singapore is capable of building great Technology too. 

We were there to exhibit VEON@Hair Experience, and met alot of great people, potential investors and mentors.

As an innovation tool, VEON enables customers to create avatars to “try on” different hair styles and colours and see which combination suits them best. As a productivity tool, it enables hair salons to better manage different aspects of the business such as inventory management, sales reports, commissions and appointments..
